Get to know Jennie Girves

 Jennie Girves has been a believer since she was 5 years old, and a fully surrendered disciple of the Lord and the Word since her mid 20's.  She is now in her 40's, living in Southern California, with her husband Ted, and their two energetic sons, Gavin (8) and Boaz (6), and their sweet French Bulldog Leila Grace.

Who am I? I'm a Jesus rebel!! It’s true! I am!

I’m the girl who reads her Bible for fun. When I have free time, you'll find me cuddled up in my quiet time room, with a cup of coffee and my Bible. No joke! I am completely in love with Jesus and the Word of God. Someone once sent me this cute little quote that said, "I'm so in love with Jesus that if a mosquito bit me, he'd fly away singing there's power in the blood!" HA! But it's so true!!

I’m not telling you any of this to be prideful; I'm telling you this to give you a glimpse into my world. At least this is my world now...I spend as much time in the Word as I can, because there was a season in my life where I spent so much time in the world I was completely lost in it and suffocating to death. 

You see, I wasn't always a Jesus rebel; I didn't grow up as a Jesus rebel. I didn't even go to church on a consistent basis until I was about 19 and living on my own. And even then, I was a bit clueless as to what being a Christ Follower really meant.... Sure, I am a fired up Disciple of Christ NOW, but I didn’t start that way. I became a believer at 5 years old, but without proper discipleship, along with a lot of abuse, neglect and harmful attacks from the enemy that I had NO CLUE how to combat in my own strength, I had many difficult years of living in bondage and believing the lies that had no place in my life.  I spent a lot of my young adult life escaping, escaping lies from the enemy, escaping my past hurts, escaping the abuse and neglect from those who should have but didn’t love me well. Sound familiar?

I have such a passion for discipleship and helping women break free from the lies they are believing and walk in that freedom because I WAS a woman held tightly by the bondage of lies that the enemy loves to entangle us in. Once I started to realize that the enemy only had as much control in my life as I allowed him to have, and I started to break free from those lies and replace them with truth, I truly learned how to live that abundant life that God has for all of us! 

There’s absolutely nothing special about me! EXCEPT that I am a daughter of the ONE TRUE KING and that makes me a princess!!! I am covered by the spotless blood from the sacrifice of the perfect Lamb of God and that makes me righteous!! I am CHOSEN, I am CALLED, I am FORGIVEN and I am LOVED SOOOO MUCH!!!! But that doesn’t make me very special, because each one of you who also belong to Christ are all of those things as well! You see, I’m no different than any of you... we are all the same at the foot of the cross.

We are all Broken & Beautiful

OUR GOD is SO amazing and HE LOVES to RESTORE, REDEEM, RENEW & REFRESH the brokenhearted...

God brought me from:

       -brokenness to restoration

       -from bondage to freedom

       -from bitterness to forgiveness 

God took a broken, confused, scared girl and restored her to a powerfully anointed and appointed woman of God. I am completely confident in WHO I AM IN Christ, WHO I AM BECAUSE of Christ, and WHO I AM For Christ. There's no room for pride in that because I can do absolutely NOTHING without Him. AND BELIEVE ME, I HAVE TRIED!!!! I went from being codependent on everyone, to being codependent on THE ONE... the ONLY ONE who can, who will, who did, who does, give me life and life abundant. 

My life verse is Romans 8:28, which says, “and we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who have been called according to His purpose.” Every single thing that has happened in my life, the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautifully amazing, ALL THINGS, God has and will continue to use for my GOOD! What does that mean? That means that EVERYTHING is USEFUL, and will be USED by HIM, for HIS PURPOSES.

I know that the Lord CHOSE me. He CALLED me by name, and He GIFTED me with specific gifts, He has done the same for you as well. Do you know that? He is so faithful to PREPARE, EQUIP, and ANOINT us for the Kingdom work that He wants each one of us specifically to do. 

Knowing that He has a perfect plan for my life, and that He loves me and has purchased me with the blood of His Son, completely changed me and lit a passion in my heart to help other women live a life truly freed from the lies of the enemy, freed from a past of abuse, from addiction, from bondage, whatever their struggle is. 

I wish I could sit down with each one of you, face to face, share a coffee and my entire testimony with you, and maybe one day we will have that opportunity, but until then, please know that we all have a story. God’s writing each one of our stories and He isn’t done with any one of us. He will see us through to completion and we can trust in that!! 

I am so blessed to be a part of His plan for WOW Discipleship Ministry and it is a privilege to partner with God to see this ministry fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  I am humbled and blessed to partner with Him to see lives changed and chains broken!

It is my desire to see  people become so in love with the Lord, and the Word of God, and have a fervent desire to lead Spirit-filled, Spirit-led lives. If we can change one person from a believer to a disciple, we have made a HUGE difference in the body of Christ!
